Do-It-Yourself Resume Edit

Editing & formatting your own resume? Here’s a quick checklist:


☐ Make sure there are no “I” or “me” statements – resumes are first person implied.

☐ Keep it down to 1-2 legible font choices, and no less than 10 point font. Your name should be big and bold at the top with at least 20 point font.

☐ Keep your resume to 1 page until you have at least a decade in the same industry.

☐ Remove your objective and your references section.

☐ Add as much quantifiable data as possible (15% increase, 95% satisfaction, 100+ customers)

☐ If you’re in an ATS industry, remove links, underlining, and columns.

☐ Prove you have attention to detail with consistent spacing, periods, right-aligned dates, and dashes.
